Team Should've Bought A ... How did it all begin? Well, really we should ask Alex.
We're a group of lads who have all been interested in cars and motor sport for as long as we can remember. Having watched rounds of the BTCC, DTM and whatever else we could find on at the UK circuits, we finally got round to getting ourselves to Le Mans in 2005.
Within minutes of arriving at the Beausejour campsite in his VX220 Turbo, shouts of "Should've bought a Lotus" were ringing out. This tickled the rest of our group, but Al was taking it a bit personally. This seemed to continue all weekend, causing us much laughter and Al's blood pressure to rise.
Now, what these fellas weren't to know from their brief look at the car was Al's motor isn't exactly your run of the mill VX, it's the turbo for a start and he's has a bit of a fiddle under the bonnet. It's probably one of the fastest Elise derivatives available with all it's tweeks.
When planning our return trip for 2006 we wanted a team name to call our own. Team Should've bought a ... seemed appropriate. So, we returned to Le Mans and Beausejour with the words plastered on the side of the VX. Funny, we didn't hear anyone shouting out again this year...
